London Live is the new
London’s television station launched on Monday at 6.30pm.
The opening arts and entertainment show, presented by video journalist
Maleena Pone, took place at the Southbank and was welcomed by celebrities,
people from the media industry and ordinary Londoners.
London Live is the first 24 hour channel on news, business, sport and
entertainment entirely dedicated to the capital and gives Londoners the
opportunity to be included in daily outputs of the channel.
Vikki Cook, head of news and current affairs, released an interview
before the launch of the channel, revealing the enthusiasm behind this project.
“We will have a very fresh
approach to our presentation, it is something I am very passionate about,
working with fresh talents. I want a very conversational style to our
presentation. I want energy," she said.
“We are not going to be traditional
news gatherers such as Sky or the BBC. We need to be a much more modern and
agile news gathering force,” she added.
The new channel, which also features newly-commissioned shows and
re-runs of established London-themed favourites, has been so far praised by
media commentators and celebrities for lively
start and diversity.
London Live is backed by Russian businessman Evgeny Lebedev, who also
owns The Independent and Evening Standard newspapers.
London Live can be found on Freeview
8, Sky 177 and Virgin 159.
